Google announced a slew of new AI features at their I/O conference last week. Two features, in particular, are game-changers that local business owners and marketers need to fully understand.

Feature #1: Google is rolling out AI-generated local search results when someone asks for a specific type of business in their area. This is fantastic news for those of you already optimizing your Google Business Profile (GBP). This new feature reads through all the data on GBPs and showcases the businesses best suited for the search. Adding comprehensive details to your GBP is more critical than ever because if Google doesn’t know what services you offer, they can't show your business to potential customers. We've seen examples where Google didn’t even display website URLs in these results, highlighting the need for local businesses to prioritize GBP SEO as their #1 marketing channel.

Feature #2: Google released AI summaries of business reviews, further emphasizing the importance of customer feedback in determining search visibility. Encourage your customers to leave detailed reviews.
